European Finishes uses some of the world’s premier lime plasters. These plasters are produced in Italy and are part of a complete line of products that are all-natural and environmentally friendly. Due to the level of alkalinity, these plasters inhibit and prevent the growth of bacteria on the surface, therefore eliminating the growth of mold and mildew, making them hypoallergenic.

Italian-lime plaster, also referred to as “Venetian Plaster” is not paint! It is an all-natural product that is produced in Italy and is shipped to the USA in plastic buckets. Lime plaster has the consistency of a paste and is applied with a trowel, not a brush or roller.

This hand-troweled technique uses multiple layers to create a finish that has depth and durability. The artisan uses a hawk to rest the plaster on and applies the plaster onto the surface with a special imported, stainless steel trowel. Note: the use of the hawk is optional. Applicators can apply the plaster directly to their trowel with the aid of a spatula. Paint is a superficial film that has no depth or translucency, making paint very one-dimensional!
